The Hist Club
Originally conceived of during the Hist’s 250th Anniversary celebrations and launched at the inaugural Hist Club Dinner during the 253rd Session on the 22nd of February 2023, the Hist Club was envisioned as providing a link between past members and friends of the Society and its current members. The Hist Club will hold a dinner every Session, alongside other events, to provide a way for its members to interact with the Society and connect with each other, and plans to provide more regular correspondence with the Hist’s extensive alumni network.
All current and former members of the Society are invited to be members of the Club. The Society is currently in the process of drafting a document detailing the structure and rules of the Hist Club, in consultation with the trustees of the Burke Bicentenary Fund. Objectives
To hold events bringing together members of the Club and the Society, including an annual dinner and meeting in the College
To raise money for the support of the Society with the supervision of the Burke Bicentenary Fund
To maintain a database of all members of the Club and their contact details
To facilitate communication between the Society and its alumni and supporters
GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ Record Celebrations
Celebrating the Hist’s formal recognition as the Oldest Student Society
The most recent events organised with the Hist Club are the celebrations for Guinness World Records awarding the Society the record for the Oldest Student Society, for which we have scheduled a series of commemorative events, including panel discussions, an Extraordinary General Meeting and a Celebratory Dinner, which are open for all alumni to attend.
