This year, our Auditor Ursula Ní Choill will be giving her Inaugural paper on feminism and its applications on a global level. The guests responding to Ursula’s paper are as follows:
Dr Nitasha Kaul, a hugely distinguished Kashmiri novelist, academic, poet and economist. Dr Kaul is based variously in the UK, Bhutan and India.
Dr Mary McAuliffe, an historian and current President of the Women’s History Association of Ireland.
Salome Mbugua, the deputy chair of the National Women’s Council and founder of AkiDwA, the national network of African and migrant women living in Ireland.
Dr Olive Braiden, chair of the National Gallery, former director of Dublin’s Rape Crisis Centre, former chair of the Arts Council, member of Women for Europe, chair of the Crisis Pregnancy Agency, and Irish Human Rights Commissioner.
The position of women affects everything from global politics to the intimate details of our everyday lives. This paper and its responses promise a challenging assessment of these realities from a feminist standpoint.
The event is preceded by a generous tea and coffee reception and succeeded by a lavish drinks reception, both in the GMB. Afterward, we’ll be heading over to Café en Seine and generally swanning around in our black tie to maximum effect. This is definitely an evening you don’t want to miss.
